Final Reflection
Looking back at this semester I can honestly say that I have gain a wealth of knowledge from this course. Before this course I was familiar with some of the components included in the modules, yet I was introduced to many things that I had never used or felt comfortable using in my library before. Being able to see the blogs of my classmates allowed me to see different perspectives and ways of implementing this new technology in my library.
Which new technologies excited me the most?
Although I really enjoyed and learned from all the assignments my favorite was creating cartoons and comics. There are just so many different ways that you can use them. Graphic novels are extremely popular at my library right now, and this could be a great way to have students create their own and share with others. I also really liked Flipagram. This was my first time hearing about this app and I liked the ease of use. I plan to use it in my library newsletters. I found QR codes to be really neat too. I had seen QR codes before but for some reason I thought they were difficult to create; boy was I wrong!
Which new technologies did I find most difficult?
The most difficult assignment for me was creating Infographics. After seeing the end products of other classmates I realized that I still need to work on it, which I plan to do this summer. I do see the potential for using them with my students, therefore I need to become competent before I introduce this component to my students. I really didn't find any of the other assignments to be difficult, it was just a matter of being open to new "adventures."
Which new technologies do I find most beneficial for students?
I can find something beneficial in all of the new technologies that I learned about. It is just a matter of knowing when to use them and also to expose students to all different kinds of new technologies. What works for some students might not work for others. Working at a dual campus where many of my students are Spanish speakers I need to make sure that the technology I introduce can be understood and possibly used in their native language.

I feel like you're totally right in that the assignments of this class made me feel comfortable navigating these technologies - and therefore feeling comfortable sharing them with others in the future. Technology and new websites are sometimes an "adventure" as you said, so figuring them out ahead of time is so useful!

ReplyDeleteJust like you, being able to see everyones blogs helped me see a different ways on how technology was being implemented at the library.
I also loved reading everyone's ideas on ways to use the different technology in the library or in classrooms.
