Message Design and Infographics
Web apps to create infographics:
Piktochart is a web-based infographic application which allows users to easily create professional looking infographics using themed templates. An important feature of Piktochart is its HTML publishing capability, which generates infographics that are viewable online with multiple clickable elements for users. Evaluation:
At first,I was really confused on how to create an infographic. I watched tutorials for all three sites but I was still very confused. After creating a free account on all three sites I found that Piktochart was easier to understand and use. I liked the different templates that were offered and the ease of uploading new images to use. I then went into PEW Internet Research Project and looked through the many articles that were featured. One article that really stood out to me was "Record Shares of Americans Now Own Smartphones, Have Home Broadband." I decided to use the main points outlined in the article for my infographic assignment. My understanding is that an infographic is mostly graphics and data. Therefore, I decided that keeping it simple would be the best way to represent the information from the article.

Great job on your infographic especially considering this is your first go at them. I also like Piktochart and found it the most user friendly.
ReplyDeleteYour infographic was great! I used the same article for my infographic. It was great seeing the data transferred in a different manner, while still getting the same message across. Like you, this was my first time creating an infographic. It was a great experience. I can see myself using them a lot more often in class.
ReplyDeleteI also saw many tutorials on how to create and infographic. At first it's overwhelming, but once I got to explore the sites it was a great experience. And Like you said "keeping it simple is the best to present the information".
